Happy Easter!

Happy Easter!

Did you know Target was closed today? Why didn't anybody warn me?!? I wanted some sale jelly beans. I guess they'll have to wait until after work on Monday.

I'm going on vacation!!!

It's not a super exciting vacation, but it's something! In early June I'm going to Steelville, MO (that's pronouced "Missour-A" according to Jonathan), to visit with Jonathan's parents and his brother. His brother get's a 2 week vacation from Iraq during that time.

It should be a lot of fun, although I heard the nearest mall is 45 minutes away.

Good times at Wal-mart

I blame the following on my mom - she "made" me go to Walmart and buy her a bunch of stuff (never mind the fact that I was completely out of food).

I had spent an hour at Walmart this morning shopping. I set everything on the check out counter, opened up my purse, and ... nothing. I had left my wallet at home!!! I had absolutely no cash, credit cards, ATM card, checks, etc. I was so mad at myself.

The cashier said that I could load up my cart and she would keep it off to the side. I drove home, got my wallet, and drove back. Thankfully Walmart is only 8 miles away.

Good times!

Hello?!?

I think I need to retitle this blog from "Cavender Family Blog" to "Amber is the coolest" blog. I guess I thought my family was computer savy enough to figure out a blog. I mean, if my mom can do it, anybody can! (right Jayne?) She's managed to post so far, I'm still waiting for pictures of sharks.

Jonathan is going to a Lightning game (hockey) tomorrow, so I have the day to myself. Let the scrapbooking and movie watching begin!!!

Orlando Improv

Sunday night Jonathan and I went to the Orlando Improv to see John Heffron ( http://www.johnheffron.com/front_page.html ). John was the winner of NBC's Last Comic Standing reality show (from last year). I loved that TV show, and I thought he was the best one. I was really excited to see him. After the show he was in the lobby signing autogrphs and taking pictures! Isn't he dreamy? (too bad we both have red eye) Too bad he's married. His show was hilarious, my cheeks were hurting from laughing so hard.

The best part of the evening was when Jonathan got picked to go on stage. The opening act was a guy named Alonzo or Antwan (sp?). He was kind-of hard to understand. His job was to get the crowd all riled up. All he did was go across to all the front row tables and ask how long every couple had been together, and then make fun of them. Luckily for us, we were the last front row table he got to. We were the only unmarried table there. He made fun of us for a while, then told Jonathan that he knew the secret to a woman's heart, which was "lick the back of her neck". We all had a good laugh until he called Jonathan up on stage. He turned on some rap music, and he and Jonathan rapped out the new fake hit single "lick the back of her neck". Since Jonathan's rythm isn't so hot, then he turned on some country music and they started a toe tapin'! It was too funny. After the show people were coming up to Jonathan and congradulating him on his great show.

Amazing Race

I've been getting into the Amazing Race (on CBS) lately. Too bad it's on at 10pm. Although, I saw a commercial that it's moving to a new night and new time - Wednesday at 8pm! I won't have to stay up so late anymore.

My favorite team by far is "the hippies" BJ & Taylor. Those other 2 boys are cool too, and that black couple. I enjoy making fun of that nerdy couple. She's kind-of cute in her nerd glasses, but he's a sweaty pig!

And I find it so funny how every "scenes from the next Amazing Race" start with the words, "Fran and Barry have trouble with ..." Those 2 are too funny.

Universal Studios

Last weekend Jonathan and I went to Universal Studios. We didn't go on many rides (b/c they make us both sick - we're both such wimps). We did walk around, ate Chinese food (they have the best!) and took some photos.

The Office is the best 1/2 hour on TV - check it out on Thursday nights.

And I got a kick out of the Back to the Future characters. They looked and sounded just like the movie!

P.I.E.

At work I was nominated for Partners In Excellence (PIE) for short. Less than 10% of Disney employees have won the award, so it's a pretty big honor. You get nominated by your peers, then 3 people write a mini essay about you. Then a committee desides if you deserve to win or not. Just to be nominated is a huge honor. Out of the 130 people in my office, only 6 people were nominated. I'll find out in May if I win. If I do, I get a cool pin for my name tag, that signifies that I'm a "partner", and you get a nice statue of Walt and Mickey holding hands. I'm not holding my breath that I'll win (most people are nominated a couple times before they win); normally managers and important people win, but I'm still pretty excited! Jonathan was also nominated by somebody in his office. I was chose by a colleague to write the mini essay on her. It's due on Friday!

Top 5 TV Shows

Since I can't think of anything to write about, I'm going to list my TOP 5 TV SHOWS (that are on TV right now):
1. CSI - the originals (although the other 2 versions are pretty good too).
2. Family Guy
3. Simpsons
4. The Office
5. Numb3rs

I guess the title says it all ... Happy Birthday Dad!

ESPN the weekend

On Saturday Jonathan and I spend the day at MGM Studios. ESPN had invaded the park. Here are some pictures of Dr. J, David Robinson and Karl Malone on a tiny couch, Jerry Rice (from Dancing with the Stars), and Chris Berman (you can turn on ESPN with out seeing Chris Berman). It was a fun time. I even got 4 autographs (high five if you've heard of all 4 people): Donnie Edwards, Chris Berman, Karl Ravich and Dee Brown.

RIP: 1998 blue Ford Escort

Everybody say goodbye to my old car (like this red on, only blue), and hello to my new 2006 Saturn Ion 2 (the grey one)!

Actually, the grey color might be the color I bought. I don't really like the color at all, but it's the only color they had in stock. They had a cool blue and green color, but not with the features I wanted. The grey car was the only one with out tinted windows. I guess people in Florida like tinted windows. I test drove a blue car with the tint on them, but it felt like I was driving inside a cave. It was so dark!

I'm most excited about my new CD player. My old car had one, but it broke about 4 years ago. I'll miss Mike & Mike in the morning (ESPN radio), but I can listen to my eclectic CD mixes I've made over the years!

The strangest standard feature is a handle in the trunk. It's sole purpose is to be pulled to open the trunk when you are STUCK INSIDE THE TRUNK! I can't see that happening too many times.

Jury Duty

This morning I proudly served my country by reading magazines in the jury holding room from 8am-1pm! I was kind-of bummed that I didn't get chosen for an actual jury. I didn't wake up at 6:45am (I normally wake up at 8:15am) for nothing! None the less, getting out early (and not having to go to work) gave me tons of time to go home and clean my apartment.

Orlando Predators

Thanks to a friend of a girl Jonathan works with, we are (sort-of) season ticket holders to the Orlando Predators! They are an arena football team. So far we've been to 2 games, and they've won both.

Last night the game was pretty boring. Arena football is fun b/c the scores are always so high, but it was scoreless going into the 2nd quarter. Luckily, the Philadephia Soul's QB was hurt, so their back up was playing. He fumbled the snap (no kidding) 7 times! All those turnovers, and some pretty good defence, allowed us to win 40-something to 20-something.

The best part of the game, for Jonathan, is after the game. They allow fans 10 minutes to run around the field and hound the players for autographs. Jonathan is a huge autograph hound, so while he runs around looking for players, I run around dodging kids playing catch with footballs. The cheerleaders all pass out scanelous pictures of their team and sign them too. Jonathan also likes that part. Last night some guys were having the cheerleader sign their (not very attractive) chests.

Expedition Everest

Walt Disney World opened a new ride last weekend. It's a roller coaster inside this huge mountain. It goes forwards and backwards, and a huge Yeti attacks you! Check it out at Animal Kingdom!

Fun with Dick and Jane

I saw Fun with Dick and Jane last weekend. I heard it was a remake of an old movie?!? It was pretty funny. Jim Carrey was hilarous as usual. The movie was spooking companies like Enron in a round about way. The end credits even said, "we'd like to thank the following: (bankrupt companies listed here."

Marathon pictures

Who wants to see hideous pictures of me? The funniest ones are from the full marathon. You see me at the start (6am - 38 degrees) in layers and layers of clothing. Then at mile 13 I totally stripped down. I threw away my $3 Walmart sweat pants, my long underwear shirt, my hat and gloves.

You can search by last names. Mine is (obviously) Cavender and my boyfriend is "Jonathan Howald".

This web site as been acting up on me today, but it's been working fine all week:

New Years Eve

Jonathan and I spent New Year Eve at Downtown Disney watching their fireworks show. First we toasted the night away with a Taco Bell soft taco ***I'm full! (Mom and Dad - that's a commercial, a real live commercial!)*** Then we camped out for a good fireworks spot from 11pm-midnight. It was fun, not too crowded, and only 10 minutes away from home!
