I love it when things work out ...

So for the past 3 years (no joke) I've been looking at bathroom lights at Lowes. Every time I go to Lowes for anything, and Jonathan lets me, I walk down the lights isle. We have those stupid, ugly bar lights with round bulbs on it.

So a week ago, they FINALLY went on sale! Jackpot. I bought a 3 bulb fixture for the small bathroom and a 4 bulb fixture for the master bathroom. I wasn't sure which glass globe-y thing to buy, so I bought a cheep ugly small one and an expensive big one. I was hoping I would eventually learn to live with the small one.

Fast forward to today (one week later). I go to Lowes again to buy some flowers and, what the heck, let's walk down the lights isle.

The lights I bought last week are even MORE on sale! I can take my receipt back and get more money.

And that big expensive globe-y thing I bought. Those are 50% off! Now I don't have to leave to live with the cheep ugly small one. The big nice ones are now the same price as the cheep ugly small ones.

Jackpot!!! I just love when everything works out perfectly.

Hello ... hello ... hello

Yesterday Jonathan and I tore the carpeting out of "my" bedroom (one of our spare rooms).  It was really gross carpeting.  There were rust colored stains all over.  What the heck causes a rust color stain?

Anyway, fake wood flooring was on sale at Lowes, so we bought a bunch, and now we're ready to install it.

Strange phenomenon:  when you remove carpeting from a room, the entire room echos.  Every free moment, Jonathan runs into my room and yells, "hellllooooooo!"

Best $1 ever spent!

This lame thing was $1 at Ikea, and I'm so glad I bought it.

It's (obviously) a plastic bag holder. We re-use plastic bags for our mini bathroom garbage cans or to pad things we are putting in the mail.

It's so nice not having bags laying all over the place!

Did I mention it was $1?

DIY - Bed Skirt

I made this bedskirt!

I took my sewing machine out of the box (that it's been sitting in for over 1.5 years) and whipped this baby out in about a day and a half. The yellow top is some cheep-o fabric from Walmart (they didn't have white, so I figured yellow was fine. It's not like you can see it anyways).

The brown fabric used to be bedroom curtains.

Now I can store stuff under the bed!!!

I'm pretty darn proud of myself.

My shelving project

Our house has this weird (but cool) mini hallway between the living room and the master bedroom.

It's actually about 4' deep (the red area). The reason it's there is to create a cave for our TV (which looks so tiny in the cave).

I actually recently put up come crown molding around the door frame. I still need to frame out the TV, or do something!

Anyway, I recently bought 1 piece of wood, cut it with my miter (mitre?) box and hung it up using little metal do-dads. The metal do-dads are actually supposed to be used for making the corners of furniture more secure, but I like that they are small and not in your face.

I was super pleased with the outcome of my mini project!

House Tour - master bathroom

Aloha again!

Here is a continuation of the bathroom tour.

I painted 2 walls this crazy green color. I'm not super fond of it, but it's growing on me.

I have a little bamboo / pewter thing going on.

I cut some big pieces of bamboo and tied them with raffia to make the frame around the medicine cabinet mirror. And I bought a live bamboo plant that I haven't killed yet!

This shower curtain is from Port Orleans Riverside (a Disney resort). I love it!

House Tour - toilet room

Ahoha and welcome to our home!

Our master bathroom has what I like to call a 'toilet room'. When we moved in it was plain white. Now it looks like this!

I would like to proudly say that I put up the crown molding on the ceiling and also the molding around the middle. All by myself!

I also made this cute little H thing. Well, I bought the H at a craft store, but I glued down the decorative paper. (Don't look at the ceiling, it's still beigh. I still have to finish painting that. Painting ceilings is a pain, but a great arm workout!)

I bought this white thing from Target. Man, was it a pain in the !@&*^# to put together!!! Those 2 big shells, and all the small shells in the jar are genuine Kwajalein shells. I was extra proud of that giant white one. It was 3/4 buried in the sand when I dug it out.

Speaking of Kwajalein, the photos in the frames along the wall is a 180 degree panoramic of one side of the island.

A banner year

Look what Jonathan bought from Mouse Surplus!


He 'made' me be in the photo so people would know the photo was real. Notice how tan my legs are!



He also bought a vertical banner Happiest Celebration banner with Lights, Motors, Action on it.


Now - for some reason - it's my job to go find a curtain rod that will fit this huge thing!
