Stephen Colbert declares war on the Marshall Islands

I record the Colbert Report ever night, because, let's face it, I can't stay up that late to watch it.

Last Tuesday (or maybe it was Wednesday), Stephen talked about something that nobody ever mentions ... the Marshall Islands!

Unfortunately, the giant rig that's spilling all the oil is registered to the Marshall Islands.

Stephen Colbert Declares War on The Marshall Islands (Which Apparently Is a Place Supposedly)
POSTED BY: Dennis DiClaudio
Fun fact: The Republic of the Marshall Islands is not where the Matthew McConaughey movie We Are Marshall takes place, but it is the place with the highest rate of leprosy in the entire world. Lots of people don't get those things confused.

Universal Studios

Bart: Cool! Personalized plates. Barclay... Barry... Bert... Bort!? Aw, c'mon! Bort?
Little Boy: Mommy, Mommy! Buy me a license plate!
Mother: No! Come along, Bort.
Man: Are you talking to me?
Mom: No, my son is also named Bort.

PA Announcer: We need more Bort license plates in the Gift Shop. Repeat, we are sold out of Bort license plates.

(a couple of my favorite quotes from the Itchy and Stratchyland Simpsons episode)

I wonder if the Bort nametags were actually sold out (I would've totally bought one!!!), or if they are ALWAYS sold out to go along with that famous scene from the episode? Hmmmm ...

A couple weeks ago Jonathan and I went to Universal Studios (free tickets from my friend Monica - yay Monica!)

I took 2 dramamines and made Jonathan go on the Simpsons Ride with me. That will probably be the last time I go on that ride. Normally my stomach can't handle simulators, and this one is super duper bumpy.

As you can tell from the photo ... it was a very crowded day at Universal ...

Here is a crappy quality YouTube video of Bort ... classic:

Free TV!

About twice a year, Direct TV gives us 4 days off free Starz channel (a movie channel).  Actually, there are about 5 different Starz channels, and until Monday they are all mine!

Free Direct TV giveaways are my own personal Netflicks.  I record everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) and then Jonathan and I watch it through out the year.

I can guaranteed that I have something recorded on my DVR from the last freebie time that we haven't watched yet.

I'm most excited about P2 and Prom Night (both horror movies).

Bring on the popcorn and the Move Yaking!

ESPN the Weekend

Last weekend was ESPN the Weekend at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

I enjoy going (we go every year), but I really wish they had autograph sessions. I mean, they've got a zillion athletes there, I would wait in line for an autograph.

Anyway, they brought the NBA motor home (that you've probably seen in commercials) and you could walk thru it. Outside they were taking free photos!

I'm deep in thought about the future of the NBA. Jonathan is just smiling and pointing.

Check out my 'retro' Rays t-shirt. I wore that to all 3 playoff game we attended last year. That shirt was 1-2. And that's the Chicago Bears hat I got for Christmas (Wal-mart!)

I can't help it!

I've been watching a ton of the TV show "What I Like About You" with Amanda Bynes and Jennie Garth (it's been cancelled for a couple years now, but it's on reruns on ABC Family in the afternoon).

I started watching about 1/2 way thru ... saw the finale ... and now I'm back to the beginning again.  It was fun to finally see the pilot!

And I'm soooooo glad I'm watching the early shows, because Simon Rex is Jennie Garth's boyfriend on the show.

OMG - I have an adult crush on him!

He might be the epitome of hotness (in my opinion).  I mean, besides Jonathan of course.

I mean, just look at that chin and smile.

Too bad Jennie Garth just broke up with him on the show. No more Simon Rex for me. Booooo!

edit:  Doh!  I looked up Simon Rex in imdb, and he got his start in showbiz in a very unusual manor.  Let's just say, my crush on him is dwindling fast ...

The Simpsons Ride!

Even though simulator type rides make me violently ill, I was so excited to see the new Simpsons Ride at Universal.

It was AWESOME!!!

I took 2 dramamines before hand, and only closed my eyes a couple times on the ride.  I think I saw most of it.  I can't believe I didn't get sick or anything.

The preshow was the best part.  I almost wish we would've waiting in line for at least 10-15 minutes (we walked right on the ride), b/c I bet there were tons of little Simpsons touches all over the place.

I must say, the Universal marketing department blew it big time when it came to souvenirs.  They didn't even sell BORT license plates.  You Simpsons fans know what I'm talking about.

My favorite TV show is cancelled!

Actually, it was cancelled about 3 years ago.

I recently stumbled across the sitcom "What I Like About You" on ABC Family.  I think it used to be on the WB or the CW or what ever that channel used to be called.  I believe it ran from '02-'06.

It stars Amanda Bynes and Jennie Garth as sisters living in NYC.  I've been recording every episode, so I had 20+ episodes on my DVR by the time I got around to watch them.  I think I'm starting in season 2.  I'm not sure where their parents are, or how they afford such a large apartment in NYC, but I just love Amanda Bynes!

Wheel of Fortune!

Jonathan and I just got home from Sea World, where they were taping *everybody yell it now* Wheel ... Of ... Fortune!

It was so cool to watch!  Waiting in line for almost 2 hours to get in wasn't fun, but the taping totally made up for it.

Before it all started, they brought in a huge seal who did a bunch of tricks (like waving, hiding his face in shame ('oh no - bankrupt!') and clapping).  They are going to fuse those tricks into the final edit of the show.  Then they took a bunch of crowd shots that they will also fuse in.  We were sitting pretty far back, so I doubt I'll be on tv.

However, look for me March 16, 17 and 18 next year!!  You might see me.  And if you do watch Wheel of Fortune on March 16, 17 or 18, I'll give you a hint ... "bold move".  Trust me, you'll thank me later.

American Idol

I snapped this photo at Disney's Hollywood Studios the other day.

Looks like this new show is shaping up!  I'm still kind-of confused on how it works.  Not that I'll be auditioning any time soon!

11/21/08

Mmmmmmm ... frosty!

So I was watching the Bengals vs. Steelers game last night on the NFL network.

One of the Bengals player is named Frostee.  And, yes, according to Wikipedia, that's his real name.

11/19/08

Robot Chicken

Jonathan and I recorded the Star Wars Robot Chicken episode.  I've never seen the show before, although I have heard of it.  I also think Seth Green is pretty hot.  I also enjoy all things Star Wars.

Am I just old, or is Robot Chicken not funny at all?

YouTube Tuesdays

A month ago Jonathan and I went to see Nick Swardson at the Hard Rock in Orlando.  Somebody managed to get a camera/video camera in the arena and took this video.  I honestly haven't watched it, and it is kind-of long, but maybe you'll enjoy it!

You may recognize Nick Swardson from the movie Grandma's Boy, Click, Blades of Glory, Reno 911 (TV show & movie) and more.  He had a slight potty mouth, but he was still hilarious.

And, seriously, if Hard Rock paid everybody $100 to sit in their seats and not get up and buy drinks every 5 minutes, I think Jonathan and I would've been the only ones to walk out of the joint with $100.

YouTube Tuesdays

I love this commercial!!!  Plus, it actually won an emmy.  Which makes me think pretty much anything can win an emmy

Always Coca-Cola!

My family took a vacation to Atlanta when I was younger.  I remember touring the Coke plant and drinking  all the different (and weird!) Cokes at the end of the tour.  So I knew Jonathan and I had to do the Coke tour.

They opened a new tour building in 2007.  It was really nice.  We stayed there for over 3 hours!  And it was all self guided.

Always a sucker for a character photo op - we got to met the Coke bear.  Notice he has an Olympic scarf on.

I guess this red couch is from American Idol (a show I do not watch).  And I got to "run" with the Olympic torch!

8/26/08

"Tooner" Field

After a 7 hour drive from Orlando to Atlanta, we dropped off our luggage (at a sexy Red Roof Inn) and headed to Turner Field.  Neither of us have been there before.

Side note - most of our vacations revolve around a baseball game.

Braves vs. Cubs!!!  I was a little scared to wear my Cubs t-shirt.  I didn't want the Braves fans to give me a hard time.  I've been to football games where Bears fans have spit and thrown stuff at people wearing the wrong shirt.  But there were more Cubs fans at the game than Braves fans.

Since Turner (as in Ted Turner) used to own the Braves, they had a HUGE cartoon playland called "Tooner" Field.  Jonathan (who just turned 30) really likes the TV show Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends.  And there was a life size replica of the Fosters
 Home!

The blue guy with the Braves hat is "Bloo".  The tall guy with 1 arm is named "Wilt" (as in Wilt Chamberlin - this imaginary friend likes basketball).

Cute, cute, cute!

Friday TV

I actually don't watch any TV on Fridays, but my DVR is in full swing!

Actually, I take that back, during the Monk/Psych seasons, I do watch lots of TV.

Currently DVR is recording:
1.  10pm - I DVR Numb3rs (b/c that's just too late for wimpy old me!)
2.  Sometime during the night - Best Week Ever (on VH1)
3.  Some other time during the night - The Soup

5/13/08

Thursday TV

Thursday is a big TV night for Jonathan. Unfortunatly, he plays hockey every Thursday night, so the DVR is working overtime!

1. My Name is Earl - I used to watch Earl, and I just decided to give it up. I'm trying to not watch so much TV.

2. 30 Rock - it looks funny, but I just don't want to watch it.

3. The Office - Jonathan's favorite TV show (he comes home from hockey around midnight, and watches it right away), and I love it too.

4. Scrubs - we started watching Scrubs last year. Then we DVRed any old Scrubs we could find (on Comedy Central) and were caught up with in 2 months. Than you DVR - you saved me from watching a TV show for 6 years and reduced it down to 2 months!

5. Ace of Cakes - when I don't go to Jonathan's hockey games (b/c sometimes they start at 10pm!) I wait at home for him and watch Ace of Cakes (and get jealous!)

5/12/08

Wednesday TV

Wednesday is my favorite TV night!!!

1. Criminal Minds - my (current) favorite TV show. Otherwise known in my household as "the gross show". Jonathan gets a little queasy around blood, and he can't handle this show very well. I remember watching one episode, and I think my heart stopped beating, it's very suspensful!

2. CSI NY - I DVR this, since it's on from 10pm-11pm, that's way too late for me!

3. South Park - I used to watch South Park a lot in the beginning (when it was 'cool'), but I've been recently getting back into it. Since South Park and CSI NY are on at the exact same time, we record the rerun at midnight.

5/11/08

Tuesday TV

I don't watch any TV on Tuesday! *gasp!*

Although I recenlty finished watching The Biggest Loser. I watched the first season (back in, like 2004?). I didn't mean to watch this show, but I accidentally started watching, and then I could not stop!

5/10/08

Monday TV

1. Little People, Big World - on HGTV (I think?). This show is about 2 little people (4' tall) parents, and their 4 kids. As they say EVERY SINGLE OPENING, "3 of our kids are average height, and only 1 it little".

This is a fun show, mainly because HGTV must give them a huge vacation allowance. I think they took 3 vacations last season alone!
